ABOUT ME

Baltimore County Board of Education 2022-2026

Since 2022, I have served as the representative for District 3 on the Baltimore County Board of Education, advocating for student achievement, transparency, fiscal responsibility, and safety. By actively participating in Board and committee activities, I have examined budgets and contracts, supported staffing and student services, and promoted informed, evidence-based decision-making.

Achievements & Milestones

During my tenure since 2022, I have:

• Promoted greater transparency in public participation, budgeting, audits, and Board decision-making.

• Reviewed more than 50 curriculum contracts, requesting evidence of academic value, cost-effectiveness, and implementation readiness.

• Advocated for full-time secondary library/media specialists and supported reallocating $3.6 million to preserve those positions.

• Proposed and secured approval of a comprehensive student screen-time policy.

• Led detailed reviews of the FY2024–FY2027 budgets as Budget Committee Chair, focusing on staffing, special education, ESOL, contracts, grants, and internal controls.

• Supported investments in athletic trainers, classroom staffing, instructional resources, libraries, and student services.

• Strengthened the Budget Committee through formal goals, effectiveness measures, schedules, reporting templates, and budget-dashboard planning.

• Advanced broader review of school boundaries, overcrowding, transportation, safety, calendars, and school closures.

• Supported open questioning and public debate, including successfully challenging a Board censure that was later reversed by the Maryland State Board of Education.
